National Heartworm Awareness Month

April is National Heartworm Awareness Month!

The Veterinary Medical Clinic strives to provide the Yankton community and surrounding area with quality products and knowledge on local parasites! We do have heartworm positive dogs in our area, so your dog could be at risk. Heartworms are transferred from a mosquito biting the infected dog and then biting your dog. Signs of heartworm disease may include a mild persistent cough, reluctance to exercise, fatigue after moderate activity, decreased appetite, and weight loss. The worms live and grow in the heart and clog up vessels. This is a deadly disease. Luckily, a monthly chewable can prevent heartworms! We carry Heartgard Plus and Interceptor Plus. You can ask us about our rebates!
