Summer officially starts here on the 21st of June, but the staff at the Veterinary Medical Clinic are already seeing major tick infestations this season! If you notice your pet shaking or scratching a lot, it may not be a bad idea to do a good once over their coat and feel through their skin for any bumps. If you do find ticks attached to the skin, take some tweezers and clasp it as close to the skin as possible and pull upwards to dislodge the tick and safely dispose of it. Make sure to clean the wound well with either soap and water or some rubbing alcohol, and keep an eye for any infection or redness/swelling. To stay ahead of the game and prevent all together, stop in to the clinic and ask any of our staff about the different options we carry! We want to make this summer enjoyable for everyone, including your pets!
