Since this week is veterinary technician appreciation week, we’d like to highlight the assistants, aspiring techs, and aspiring vets that help run the clinic!
First, we’d like to introduce Maddie. Maddie has been in veterinary medicine for 6 years and has been working at the Veterinary Medical Clinic for the past year. She has recently graduated from Mount Marty University with a Bachelors of Pre-professional Studies with a focus of pre-veterinary sciences. Maddie is pursuing veterinary medicine because she has always loved the bond between owners and their pets, this inspired her to care for animals on a deeper level. Maddie’s favorite part of veterinary medicine is being able to give clients the answers they’ve been searching for, her fondest memory is from back home in Texas. The clinic in Texas was visited by clients from Colorado who had been traveling and searching for a diagnosis for their pet. The veterinarians at her clinic were finally able to diagnose this family’s pet and create a treatment plan which resulted in an emotional triumph for the family. This was a turning point in Maddie’s career and why she began pursuing not only veterinary medicine, but becoming a DVM. Maddie believes veterinary medicine and working with animals has always come easy to her, so she is working towards becoming a veterinarian where she will specialize in equine sports medicine.
Our next assistant is Sam, she is originally from Maryland where she started her career walking patients in and out of a veterinary clinic during social distancing. Sam was fascinated with laboratory procedures and was promoted to a technician at her last clinic where she learned how to perform various skills. Sam has been in veterinary medicine for two years and has been with the Veterinary Medical Clinic for 8 months. She is currently taking online veterinary technician courses to achieve her Associates of Science degree, with a goal of taking the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Examination) and become a licensed technician. Sam began pursuing veterinary medicine because she has always felt connected to animals on a deeper level and the medical field has always sparked her interest, she wanted to put her love and fascination for both for the benefit of others. Sam’s favorite part of veterinary medicine is providing love and care to patients in moments of fear and pain. Sam’s fondest memory of veterinary medicine is from her clinic back at home, when she first performed the difficult skill of a jugular blood draw. When hitting the vein and collecting blood her fellow technicians cheered for her in the lab and was presented a gold star by one of her favorite DVM’s.
Finally, our newest assistant is Carlee. Carlee has recently been introduced into the veterinary medicine field, with this being her first active year in the field. Carlee recently joined our team and began working at the Veterinary Medical Clinic in August of this year. Carlee is currently a sophomore at Mount Marty University with minor learning certifications from Washington State University’s veterinary program. Carlee’s passion for the veterinary medical field stems from the love for her animals at home in Washington and her experiences with the medical field throughout her life. These feelings have inspired her to pursue Pre-Veterinary studies with aspirations of becoming a veterinarian where she will specialize in large animal medicine. Carlee’s favorite part of being in the veterinary medical field is being able to see the relief that families experience when their pets make a recovery after a time of suffering, this has created Carlee’s desire to help pets by keeping them in good health.
We appreciate each and every single one of our employees and would not be able to do it without them! We also appreciate everyone that has taken the time to get to know them better allowing us to highlight our assistants and make them feel important. Everyone, let’s give a big thanks to Maddie, Sam, and Carlee. We also want to give a big thanks to all employees past and present for their amazing contributions to our business.
